sophia and i are away visiting my mum and dad on the island for the first week wade is in cambodia. we miss him very much and we are so, so happy for him.
we just went for a walk in the sun and the wind. it was an exploring walk with no purpose, yet in one walk i showed sophia about crossing the street to look for cars, how the wind blows your hair and how you can make your shadow dance. she discovered on her own the noise metal manhole covers make when you step on them. it is amazing to get to be the first person who tells someone all the stuff everyone just knows.

The name of our family blog comes from when my daughter Sophia was 4, and she was standing at the top of our rail-less, sky-lit staircase, and said to her sister,"Oh Eleanor, you can't go down the stairs all alone with nothing but the purple sky to hold you!" While choosing the name for our school blog, I was battling with my son on my lap, who was yelling, "who would lick my foot for a prize?" After his sister actually thought it would be worth it and took the challenge, the title was born.

Hey Jo, we didn't know that you were in town. Even if you can't get out to see us cause you are at the mercy of other car owners; by all means, give us a call. We'd love to just catch up and hear how you are doing. I hope it was a good and relaxing time. We actually got to see Jen when she was here and by the sound of it, she was here at the same time you were. The kids had fun together, it seems they just pick up where they left off. I'm also glad to hear that you're moving to that place across the road, hope it works out wonderfully. Greet Soph and Wade when you see them. Love
